Here’s an article you won’t want to miss: The 100 Most Creative People in Business. This sizzlin’-hot feature is the lead in Fast Company’s online June issue.

“There are no rules about creativity, which made constructing our list of the 100 Most Creative People in Business a tricky task,” states the opening para. “We looked for dazzling new thinkers, rising stars, and boldface names who couldn’t be ignored. We avoided people we’ve profiled in the recent past. We emphasized those whose creativity addresses a larger issue—from the future of our energy infrastructure to the evolution of philanthropy to next-generation media.”

From the #1 pick, Jonathan Ive (Senior VP of Industrial Design at Apple), to #100 (Chris Ferguson, Founder of Full Tilt Poker), the choices are inspiring and scintillating. In between those two, you’ll encounter names that are either familiar or completely unknown. Here’s a small peek that illustrates the breadth of choices:

  • Prith Banerjee (#11), Director of HP Labs
  • Fashion designer Stella McCartney (#13)
  • Sheila Bair, Chairman of the USA’s Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (#26)
  • Former supermodel Tyra Banks, Founder of Bankable Enterprises (#49)
  • Author, film director/producer Nora Ephron (#61)
  • Musician Brian Eno (#83)
  • Karin Fong (#88), Creative Director of Imaginary Forces

What makes this feature even better is Fast Company’s stunning design. Each of the 100 gets his or her own page, complete with a summary paragraph that leads to a longer article, and more than half a dozen or so boxes focusing in on that person. These boxes may include a Google Trend Box; a Google news box; a Wikipedia entry; relevant videos; salient quotes; a photo gallery; a blog; related links; and a link to the person’s official website. And always scrolling across the page top is a clickable list that allows you to easily move to any of the other 100 Most Creative.

Tomorrow, June 10th, Fast Company is holding a “100 Most Creative People Gathering” in New York City featuring “unexpected discovery, engaging dialogue, and eye-opening inspiration.” That almost sounds worth flying across the country for—except, as you’d expect, the event is completely Sold Out. I’ll just have to content myself with the online article, but I’m not complaining.
